Why I Love This Maple and Browned Butter Granola

The oven baked granola recipe is not only declious, but you can add whatever you have on hand or your taste buds are dreaming of!

Sometimes I toast up some coconut and sprinkle it in at the end or I go wild with several types of nuts.

You can use it as a healthier homemade snack idea, a healthy breakfast idea or even as a topping for some desserts.

Step 1 for that yummy Maple and Browned Butter Granola!

Spread your oats on two cookie sheets lined with parchment paper and put them in a preheated 325 F oven. Bake for 20 minutes, stirring, and rotate your plans halfway!

Start by toasting your oats!

Step 2

While your oats bake, add your butter to a small sauce pan and melt over medium-low heat. Keep and eye on it and swirl it around while it cooks. It can take about 20 minutes to start to brown. We are looking for a gorgeous, chestnut brown colour. The smell will be amazing! Remove from heat and alow to cool.

Step 3

While waiting for the butter (and watching it carefully), get your nuts ready! I used macadamia nuts and chopped them up a bit.

Step 4

Prep your spices! Just put them in a little dish. I usually just use cinnamon, but you can add nutmeg or cardamom! Whatever you feel like…oh and our butter is done!

Just look at that lovely colour! (Yes, I cleaned the stove as I waited…dangerous! Don’t do that!)

Step 5

Combine oats, nuts, spices and salt in a big bowl.

Step 6

Pour the butter through a straining onto oats (leave the toasted milk solids behind and discard); add maple syrup.

Step 7

Spread out onto cookie sheets again and bake in 300 F over 30-40 minutes, stirring and rotating pans halfway.
