Best Glory Bowl Salad: Tasty and Healthy
The delicious Glory Bowl is even better as a salad option! I often substitute the rice for some lettuce to make it a nutritious, umami-flavour-packed salad! It’s lighter and fresher and still carries an incredibly complex nutty experience. Give it a go!
Why I love this Glory Bowl Salad
- Easy ingredients: most are available year-round.
- SUPER nutritious.
- Delicious Umami flavour leaving me satisfied.
The original Glory Bowl was developed at Whitewater Ski Hill near Nelson, BC, and named after the Glory Snowboarding Bowl! I have enjoyed this umami treat for years, but I often like to sub out the rice to make a fresher and lighter taste. I also like to throw in some alfalfa sprouts for added nutrition. This is a great, inexpensive meal that can often be made with whatever you have kicking around your fridge because the dressing is so delicious and nutty!
As a tip, keep this dressing in your fridge! I make it every week or two and just add it to my daily lunch salad, to use as a healthy veggie dip for the kids, and even a meat marinade.

Glory Bowl Salad Ingredients
The Salad Bowl
8 cups cooked brown rice (traditional, but I like to remove this for lettuce!)
2 cups beets, grated
2 cups carrots, grated
2 cups almonds or cashews, toasted
2 cups spinach leaves or lettuce
2 cups tofu, cubed OR Protein of choice (I used salmon)
2 cups alfalfa (optional)
Glory Bowl Dressing
1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes*
3 T water
3 T tamari or soy sauce
3 T apple cider vinegar
1 cloves garlic, crushed
3/4 cups vegetable oil
1 tbsp tahini paste
Glory Bowl Salad Directions
I really prefer to use lettuce in place of the rice to make a glory bowl salad, but whatever you use, just divide the ingredients between your 4 bowls.
Next, just mix your glory bowl salad dressing ingredients together and shake well. There’s often plenty leftover, so just keep it in the fridge to use over anything that you want a nice savoury, umami flavour!
Add your glory bowl dressing to your salad, and enjoy!
