The first time I had the amazing Epicure mushroom dip, I was blown away but how delicious it was! I was a new mom and learning how to be a “grown-up” making treats for my husband and family to enjoy around Christmas. It had the Jalapeno Cheddar (which is harder to find now), so I’ve started substituting the Epicure seasoning Cheese Chives Bacon to make the mushroom dip.
However, I realize that this can easily be created with simple seasoning from the cupboard that is not Epicure, and the yummy mushroom dip will still be delicious. Check out the substitutions below.
Ingredients for Cheesy Epicure Mushroom Dip with Easy Substitutions
2 cups mushrooms, finely chopped
1 tbsp butter
2 tsp garlic, minced
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp Epicure Lemon Dilly Mix*
1 tbsp Epicure 3 Onion Mix*
1 tbsp Epicure Cheddar Jalapeño Dip Mix (or substitute with Cheese, Chives & Bacon Mix)*
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method for Cheesy Epicure Mushroom Dip with Easy Substitutions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
This is SO dang easy to make. Start by chopping your mushrooms up pretty finely.
Cook the mushrooms up!
- Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped mushrooms and garlic, then sauté until the mushrooms are nicely browned and fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Prepare Cream Cheese
- In a mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- To the cream cheese, add the browned mushrooms, Epicure Lemon Dilly, 3 Onion Mix, and Cheddar Jalapeño Mix (or your preferred substitution*) to the cream cheese. Mix until well combined.
- Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese with a spatula until evenly incorporated.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and golden on top.

Epicure Lemon Dilly Mix
Substitute with:
- 1 tsp dried dill weed (fresh would be SO good!)
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- A pinch of garlic powder or onion powder
Epicure 3 Onion Mix
Substitute with:
- 1 tbsp dried minced onion or onion flakes
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp chives (dried or fresh)
Epicure Cheddar Jalapeño Dip Mix (or Cheese, Chives & Bacon)
Substitute with½ tsp smoked paprika1 tsp finely minced or dried jalapeño (or chili flakes for heat)1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
